Unfortunately, there is no personal injury insurance cover provided by the Department of Education (DoE) and communities for students in relation to school sporting activities.
Apart from medicare and private health insurance parents and caregivers can access personal accident cover through normal retail insurance outlets. When deciding whether to take additional insurance cover it would be advisable to access the level and extent of the child's involvement in sport programs at school, district, region and state level.
Many years ago, there used to be insurance schemes which parents subscribed to through the school, but that is no longer the case.
