“Teaching students how to learn is as important as teaching them content, because acquiring both the right learning strategies and background knowledge is important – if not essential – for promoting lifelong learning.” (Dunlosky 2013)
With many of tomorrow’s jobs a mystery to us today, it is crucial that we teach our students how to learn in order to help prepare them for whatever the future may hold. Understanding oneself as a learner and developing skills focussed on learning how to learn are at the centre of our Learning Process. Here is where we teach our students to build knowledge, make meaning and apply their understanding to all learning.
